Given some scheduling conflicts, we’ve decided to put off the Stan in the Evening concert planned for August 2017 until the summer of 2018 as part of the Music at Fieldcote concert series.
The show was performed twice in The Spectator auditorium in August 2016 — and I look forward to doing it again.
Stan, who grew up in Binbrook and lived in Dundas as an adult, had been named the 2016 Famous Hamiltonian of the year by the City of Hamilton. People at the Culture and Tourism Department asked me to organize and host a concert to coincide with George Hamilton Day on Aug. 1. The concert featured Stan’s songs performed by Paul Mills, Paul Langille, Ariel Rogers, Poor Angus, Jude Johnson and myself. The concert at the Spectator’s auditorium sold out in two days. A second night was organized and it sold out as well. In all, more than 520 people attended.
Watch for the Stan Rogers episode of the television program Flashbacks on Cable 14. The program — that is hosted by Margaret Houghton and myself — includes footage of one of the concerts from August 2016.
THIS IS A POSTER FROM THE AUGUST 2016 SECOND SHOW:
